Jake Peavy Pt. 2...

First of all, congratulations to the San Francisco Giants on a well-deserved third championship in five years. Joe Panik at second looked like he'll be another Dustin Pedroia one day, the way he made that play of the game. Hunter Pence may be a head case, but he's my kinda head case -- I love the way he played throughout the series as much as I loved that possessed expression he wore at the plate. Third baseman Pablo Sandoval is a free agent now, and I would love to see him in a Red Sox uniform in 2015, but if the Giants let him go, then they deserve to finish fifth in their division next year. And Madison Bumgarner... Jesus H. Christ. Best, World, Series, Pitching, Ever. Period.

Of course, there would have been no Game 7 if Jake Peavy hadn't lost control of Game 6 in the second inning. I'm a lifelong Red Sox guy, so I didn't really have a horse in this particular race, but I could watch baseball all day no matter who was playing who -- I would have been just as pleased if the Royals had won it all. I just really, really wanted to see Peavy win Game 6. He helped the Red Sox get to the playoffs last year, and then he sort of lost his grip then as well. He falls apart after the regular season ends. He's the pitching equivalent of Oakland GM Billy Beane, it seems -- except Peavy has a couple of rings for his effort.

I think Peavy's major flaw is, he pitches with too much heart. Maybe that's why I love him...
